Day 2 on the Wind Surf – Sorrento & Capri

Day 2 on the cruise brought us to Sorrento….We didn’t really get a chance to go explore Sorrento, we took the ferry and went to Capri….What a beautiful island. There are a lot of expensive stores, Five Star Hotels as well as beautiful homes…with views..

We had a lovely day and thought we had left plenty of time to return to the Wind Surf…the last tender to the ship was at 3:45 pm….the ferry we thought, would take back was at 2:15 pm…. was not the case…the ferry didn’t leave until 3:15 pm….that was a really close time frame…Maura (my Sister-in-Law) and I felt like we were in the Amazing Race…we were very nervous about missing the ship and having the trouble and expense of trying to catch up to it..

So  what do you do on the ferry when you think you my miss a very important tender ride…you enjoy a glass of Champagne with your travel partner and smile and say,”No worries…we will make it work”…we did make it back with 3 minutes to spare when the last ships tender arrived..whooo…it was a great day…here are a few photos from the day…

more days to come….

Great Trip – Glad to be Home…too

Wow…what an amazing trip…it went so fast and yet so slow…of course it was very difficult to be away from Kelly for 16 days…the great thing…I was back home for our 21st wedding anniversary…of course the jet-lag was killer. :-)I will post photos over the next few weeks as there are so many to go through…and of course there are always chores to do when you get home…. 😦

Kelly and I will be going to Morgan Hill, to relax and see what it really feels like to be retired….so far we have been very, very busy…

The first stop was Rome prior to boarding the ship…all I kept saying through out the entire trip was;  amazing and OLD….the buildings and how old and the hard work and skilled required to build them all…amazing…there was not enough time to even begin to see everything…I took a lot of pictures and I know I don’t remember the names of all the churches and plaza and buildings…I will be able to at least tell you which city they were in…day one of the trip

I hope you enjoy….more to follow…

The stern on the Wind Surf…the cruise begins

Stay tuned….

Today I am getting ready to fly out of Pocatello, Idaho (which could be an adventure) to San Francisco to meet up with my beautiful sister-in-law Maura…I am going on a Wine and Food Cruise with her on the WindStar…I am so excited. We are leaving from Rome, and visiting Croatia and Venice to name a few…I will update the blog with photos and stories from our trip when I get back after June 15th…I am sad that Kelly can’t join us…but he is working on numerous projects on the motor home, which he wants to do and was already scheduled before the opportunity to go on the cruise…..he is a wonderful husband to send me…I will miss him. It will be fun to spend a lot of quality time with Maura….thank you so much for inviting me….Stay tuned… 🙂

Chilly Weather in Idaho

The weather has not been warm at all…we have had rain, snow and winds up to 45 mph+…..the Jeep has a hard time driving against a strong head wind, so it has limited our ability to get out and about…so here are a few photos from our campground…..of course there is nothing wrong with just relaxing and enjoying each others company. Of course the clouds make for beautiful sunsets…

Cold Rain Cloud

Another rainy day…and this one dropped some snow on the hills….

City of Rocks – National Reserve Idaho

Today we went to the City of Rocks National Reserve…what a beautiful place. It was so quiet, the views spectacular, totally amazing. The photos do not do the scenery justice. There are numerous campsites there, so if any one is looking to tent camp, and a few sites have room for small RVs..it would be worth it. The history of the California Trail goes through the park…for those who like to rock climb..this is the place. The weather today was crazy too..we had snow flurries with the sun shining…we loved it.

Hanging out in Idaho – Our Granddaughter Shelbie – Burley High Graduation!

Well, the weather in Idaho has not been the best…it has been cold and super windy…30 mph+..it makes the motor home rock pretty good and we are parked. Here are a few fun pictures we took around camp when doing our daily walks…

What a day!!

Well, today, was an interesting day. We both woke up early and got a great start to contine our leisure trip to Idaho…we had a few stressful moments early in the day. The first stress was within 15 minutes, we had a bad sensor on the inside rear dual tire…the sensor kept telling us we had no air pressure in the tire. We stopped on the side of the freeway and checked to be sure it was ok…all good…started driving again…15 minutes later…I told Kelly,” I smell smoke!”….there was smoke in the back of the motorhome…Kelly safely pulled to the shoulder and we got out quickly…I had Julia (cat) in my arms tight as I didn’t want to lose her on the freeway….we started looking for what was burning…we checked tires/brakes and start looking at the engine…fear of our new home going up in smoke on I-80 near Cisco Grove…I went back into the motor home and found the source of the smoke…it was the electric bed mat had shorted out and melted on the wood night stand…

Scary…bad short on electrical..could have been worse.

I am always grateful I have my Rescue Hero Kelly…who takes great care of us…from here on out…Kelly says,”he is the bed warmer!”

After all the excitment of the morning…we finally were able to keep on going on the road…

On the road again…. Interstate 80 through Nevada

Julia, the cat was doing much better today on traveling in the motor home…she was riding the dash…

Julia the co-pilot

We planned to stop at a random little RV park and spend the night…we were not sure what to expect…it turned out to be a neat little park…we hope to return in the future and go explore the hills and look for gold…this park has a little bar inside the store…so we also took a moment of stress relief after parking the motorhome…we are here for the night…tomorrow we head to Elko, NV.

RV Park…what a great little park!

Flower garden at the RV Park

End of the day…parked…Stress relief….visiting with the local people..

Tomorrow…a new day…a new adventure…to Elko…

The road trip begins….

Well, today, we started our road trip journey. We have been living in our motor home since Feb. It has been great…but today we move our home…We commented to each other today,…that retirement was actually a lot of work..but it was “all good”. We had a lot of errands to complete before hitting the highway. We did complete them all. 🙂

It was a rough day for our cat Julia..she really didn’t like it when the house made a lot of noise and moved…I think she survived..maybe..she was really tired..

Very tired cat…resting..ahhhh retirement

It was very emotional driving out of Vallejo…We were excited to leave and yet…there was a sad feeling of leaving places and people of comfort..it really hit us driving up Hunter Hill on Intersate 80..I guess the good thing was it only lasted a minute or two as we are on our way to Idaho to our granddaughers High school graduation which is a very special time. Kelly did remember how to drive the motor home even though it has been parked for three months. Here is our campsite at Snowflower..it was GREAT to smell the fresh scent of pine trees and moutain air. We will be staying here for three days before traveling across Nevada.

Beautiful Day – 1st day of retirement

The start of retirement….it still feels just like a weekend. Every now and then a thought pops in your head, thinking…wow, I don’t have to go back to work. So the first day started as a regular day…you still have to do laundry when you are retired……..

It was a beautiful bay area weather day…you just had to go on a ride or do something outside.

So we took a beautiful ride up to Mumm’s to pick up the my club member Champagne shipment….of course we had to sit out on the Oak Terrace and have Champagne and cheese plate..it was just perfect..so here are a few photos for the “No Day but Today” project 365..

It was a great way to start. 🙂

This is how to start retirement

A great way to travel

Perfect!
